Introduction

Amoxicillin Capsules are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It belongs to the penicillin group of antibiotics and works by targeting and killing the bacteria causing the infection. Amoxicillin is widely prescribed by doctors for conditions such as chest infections, sinusitis, tonsillitis, UTIs, skin infections, and dental infections. It is suitable for adults and children when prescribed and is often included in combination therapy when treating more serious or resistant infections.

How It Works

Amoxicillin works by interfering with the bacterial cell wall, causing the cell to rupture and die. It does this by inhibiting an enzyme called transpeptidase, which bacteria need to form their protective outer walls. Without this structure, the bacteria become vulnerable and quickly die off. The result is the reduction and eventual elimination of the infection from the body. Amoxicillin is fast-absorbed and begins acting within hours, although full symptom relief may take a few days.

Why Choose Amoxicillin Capsules

Amoxicillin Capsules for infection treatment are one of the most widely used and trusted antibiotics in the UK and globally. Its broad-spectrum activity makes it suitable for many types of infections, and its tolerability profile means it is suitable for a wide patient population. When taken as directed, it can resolve infections quickly and prevent complications. It is available in various strengths, typically 250mg or 500mg, and is generally taken two or three times per day for 5–10 days depending on the condition.

Patients with bacterial infections often notice improvement in symptoms within 48 hours. It is important, however, to complete the entire prescribed course even if symptoms resolve early.

Important Note

Amoxicillin will not work against viral infections such as cold or flu. Always complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better sooner. If you are allergic to penicillin or have experienced rashes, swelling, or breathing difficulty from similar antibiotics, inform your doctor immediately. Store at room temperature and keep out of reach of children.
